All-Pro Tight End, American Football, New England
To say Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski grew up in an athletically gifted family would be an understatement. His father played college football, his great-grandfather competed on the international stage in the Paris Games of 1924, and he has four brothers who are all top-level athletes. Growing up in a sports-crazed household as the second youngest of five athletically gifted and highly competitive boys, it’s fair to say that young Rob was taking some big hits from the Gronkowski brothers at an early age.
Rob started high school near Williamsville, NY, where he played both football as a tight end and basketball as a centre. As a high school junior, he earned a spot on the All-Western New York first team and the All-State second team. Midway through high school, he moved to Pennsylvania, where he played out his senior year of high school football and was named a SuperPrep All-American and a PrepStar All-American.
Gronk took his talents to the University of Arizona® and shattered all school receiving and touchdown records. While there, he set school tight end records for single-game single-season, and career receptions, yards and touchdowns, and was named an Associated Press third-team All-American and All-Pac-10 first-team tight end.
After being drafted by New England in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2010 Draft, Gronk exploded onto the professional scene as one of only three players to score four touchdowns during the preseason. After an impressive rookie campaign that saw him win Rookie of the Week honors twice (and nominated for a third), Rob tore up the field during the 2011 season and set all-time pro tight end records for receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and total touchdowns and earned a Pro Bowl® roster spot.
Rob is already the holder of four pro football records, even though his professional career has spanned only three years. With the solid foundation of skill and ability he picked up from his family, plus his competitive spirit and winning attitude, added to the muscle and strength building power of Six Star®, Gronk is primed to continue to rewrite record books and dominate the league for years to come!
